1/12 scale Action Figures/Drawing Models

Over the weekend I was thinking about these Asian action figures/drawing models. I'd seen them before but never put much thought into customizing them until I saw a picture on instagram of a figure that was painted to match a specific doll head. Why didn't I think of painting them??? I could have saved sooo much money.

The ebay seller that I bought the ooak dolls from still hasn't mailed them yet. I don't think I even want them anymore. I'm thinking about maybe trying to resell them once I finally get them, but we'll see how I feel once they're in my hands.

Anyway, I looked on ebay and then I thought about checking AliExpress to see if they had better prices...they did. Also, there was a promotion for first time shoppers (through the app) so I saved $4 on an already decent price.

I then proceeded to look for other figures and added them to my wishlist for future purchase. I can't get them all at once since I don't have the funds right now.

I like that there are different versions of the dolls because they have different body shapes and heights. I can't wait to have them all so I can really compare the shapes/heights.

These figures are completely different from the girl that I purchased this weekend but the body and head shapes seem similar.

There isn't much detail in the face, but that doesn't bother me.

They have interchangeable hands (not pictured here) and lots of accessories to place in their hands. I'm very excited about that.

They also seem to be able to stand on their own very well. The seller of the ooak dolls that I bought claims that they can stand on their own but the poses do not seem very natural.

The updated version of the above dolls (the S.H.Figuarts) have more detailed toes!

I love how the updated girl's body is thicker in general. I know these figures are based on anime images, but I love the variation in the bodies. To me it is more realistic than having one single mold for all dolls.

I know Barbie is finally adding more body shapes and heights but they still lack the articulation I want, which for collectors like me, defeats the purpose. I don't want my dolls to be static. I want them to be able to move. I've always wanted them to be able to move. Even when I was younger and played with my dolls extensively.

I think this is why I'm drawn to bjd's. Unfortunately they are ridiculously expensive and sometimes the proportions are way out there (anime based) but the above figures seem to have promise. I can't wait to get the first girl and see what she looks like in person.
